Welcome to the MCIR Modernization Webpage
As announced on October 1, 2024, MCIR is transitioning to a new IIS platform powered by STChealth. This modernization project will enhance our system and improve its functionality.
New MCIR System Launching June 15!
We are excited to announce that the new Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR) system will officially launch on Monday, June 15.
This modernization effort represents a significant step forward in improving how immunization data is managed, accessed, and utilized across the state. The new system is designed to enhance user experience, streamline workflows, and support more efficient and accurate data entry and reporting.
What to Expect from This Page:
We aim to make this webpage your central resource for project updates, communications, and helpful tools throughout the modernization process.

MCIR MOD Training is now Live for Healthcare Providers
Training for Michigan’s new incoming MCIR system (MCIR MOD) is now available in the Learning Management System (LMS). Check your email for a message from noreply@tovutimail.com, then log in and start your first course today. Contact STC_TrainingServices@stchome.com for assistance.
NOTE: Training for schools and childcares will be available at a later date.

MCIR MOD: New System, New Training Requirements
The MCIR Modernization (MOD) Project will introduce a completely new Immunization Information System, not an updated version of the current MCIR. Because of this, all users will be required to complete training before gaining access to the new system.
This training requirement applies to every MCIR user, regardless of role or experience with the current system.
What’s Changing with MCIR MOD?
MCIR MOD introduces a new platform with updated functionality and workflows. Users should expect changes such as:
- A new system layout and navigation
- Updated workflows for entering and reviewing immunization data
- New terminology and task organization
- Different processes for managing patients, inventory, and reports
- Enhanced interoperability with electronic health record (EHR/EMR) systems
Because these changes affect daily tasks, training is a critical part of preparing for the transition. Details about training formats, schedules, and timelines will be shared once the updated go-live date is finalized.

MCIR MOD Training: Flexible Learning Options
Training for MCIR MOD will be delivered through a variety of formats designed to support different learning needs and workflows. Users will have access to self-paced courses in the Learning Management System (LMS) that cover key concepts and system functionality, along with downloadable Quick Reference Guides (QRGs) for just-in-time support during day-to-day tasks.
In addition, Virtual Instructor-Led Trainings (VILTs) will be offered to provide guided walkthroughs, live demonstrations, and opportunities to ask questions and learn from MCIR subject matter experts. To receive information on end-user training, please email MDHHS-MCIRTransition@michigan.gov and request to join the MCIR MOD listserv.

What is an IIS Consortium?
An IIS consortium is a collaborative group of states and jurisdictions that use the same Immunization Information System (IIS) platform and work together to improve it.
Michigan will join the longest-running IIS User Consortium in the country—active for over 18 years.
This community gives Michigan immediate access to a nationwide network of immunization and IIS managers to share ideas, collaborate on solutions, leverage collective funding, and align with national and federal public health goals, including the National IIS Strategic Plan.

Will the new IIS have Vaccine Forecasting?
STC|ONE includes built-in vaccine forecasting, also known as clinical decision support. This feature automatically places patients on the correct immunization schedule and displays the recommended dates for their next doses. STC|ONE Vaccine Forecasting accounts for completed, overdue, and aged-out vaccine groups—helping providers make quick, accurate vaccination decisions at the point of care.
